Importing models help

emptyspotlight	i am new at this but, I am making a hack of mario kart ds replacing waluigi with a rosalina model, i replaced the voices sucessfully, and i also replaced the model in the character select screen, but when i replaced the in game racing model my emulator and r4i3ds card froze. Is there something i did wrong? Can anyone help me? Also how do I replace the character icons? And change the racer's name from Waluigi to Rosalina on. Thank you for you help :)
