My original username was supposed to be DCone because DC are the initials of my forename and name and because i wanted to be the "one" at doing things where i have some experience in (i created that nametag when i was 8 year old please X] ) After that, i decided to change my nametag "DCone" into "DCGameTek" because i wanted to show a bit more that i love gaming hence the "Game" in that nametag and i added "Tek" after that because it sounded good and that it is supposed to being spelled like "Tech" :P Tech = Technology After a few months, i became unsatisified of my nametag so i wanted to change it one more time... So... originally i got the idea of renaming myself "Prince De Givre" (English translation : Prince of frost) but i think it was too different from my actual nametag so i have thinked of "xFreshDizzy" and i thinked it sounded pretty good and contains the words "Dizzy" who sounds really similar to "DC" and fits pretty well with what i do sometimes on the internet because sometimes, when i was hangin' out on some Source Game servers, i tried to make people laugh a lot with my imitations of well-known characters like Mario or Mickey Mouse while saying bad things with their voices and one day, i heard someone who was laughing so much he said "I'm gonna be dizzy ! XD* which pushed me even more get that nametag. But... 1 year later... In December 2015... I wanted to make a slight modification of my nametag for two reasons : - xFreshDizzy doesn't make sense - Fresh on what ? o0 And because of that, i decided to rename myself for the damn last time cause i renamed myself "xMasterDizzy" ! My story is complicated isn't it ? P.S.: It was the abridged version of the story ;] |

I have a special status suggestion : Regular Hack Creator A regular hack creator got the same privileges than a regular member at the only exception than he is known to being good at hacking a game. Someone can get the "Regular Hack Creator" grade by creating a 100% completed hack of something that is not a texture hack. Example : if you create an hack that gives to Luigi his fire flower outfit, you are not gonna get that grade. Example 2 : if you create an hack that contains a new track who is not completed at 100% (CPU who is not working, no item boxes, etc.), you are not gonna get that grade. Example 3 : if you create an hack who replaces Luigi with Vinny (idk) with a brand new model, voice palette and icons for the character, you are gonna finally get that damn grade ! :P Example 4 : if you create a music hack, you get that grade. Example 5 : if you upload a music hack that is not made by you, you don't get that grade. |

Technically, it's not for everyone to be a Regular Hack Creator because this require to have a bit of experience in ROM Hacking (Like i said before, you need to make fully completed hack that is not a simple texture hack like for example an hack that replace a vanilla character with a brand new custom character). And yeah, this grade is not intended to be useful because this is only a way to show to other people that you have some knowledge about ROM Hacking. That status is NOT ment for giving some powers that usual members don't have :P But it could for sure make sense to call a Regular Hack Creator a Verified Hack Creator or something else X] |

I've never done NetPlay myself, but I'm quite interested to try it out. Actually, if you play on NetPlay servers and you try to play against other people, it's better to use NTSC roms because : - They are running at 60 Hz (PAL roms are running at 50 Hz). - They are the most commonly used kind of roms ! - More people understand english and/or french than japanese ! Ooh and Linux is not as much supported by emulators than Windows and OSx. |

Just in case you didn't know, Japanese ROMs are NTSC, "PAL" only applies to European and Australian games (geek note: France = SECAM, not PAL, but there's almost no difference). Actually, you're right, japanese N64 roms are technically NTSC roms (You can even boot japanese N64 games in an north-american N64) But if we make a comparison between every kind of N64 color signals shall we ? :P NTSC aka. north-american roms : Run the games at 60 Hz (30 FPS on real hardware, 60 FPS on emulator) and always support english (sometimes, they support french too). NTSC-J aka. japanese roms (alt. name : JAP or JP) : Basically the same thing than NTSC roms, but these roms are not censored and are only in japanese. PAL aka. european and australian roms : Run the games at 50 Hz (25 FPS on real hardware, 50 FPS on emulator) and always support english, french and german (and even other languages sometimes). Even if PAL roms are much more slower than NTSC roms, it should be noticed that they have a much better video quality and are generally much more optimized than NTSC roms due to the fact that the N64 was never really made to support 60 Hz but has an architecture that makes the system support really nicely 50 Hz instead of 60 Hz. PAL-M aka brazilian roms : Very similar if we compare PAL-M roms with PAL roms. It should be noticed that even if brazilian roms are using the same color signal than PAL roms, in actual gameplay, they are much more similar to NTSC roms than the PAL ones ! SECAM aka. french roms : Same thing than PAL roms, but the SECAM color signal grants a much better video quality if compared to PAL roms. The same PAL roms who are reputed to have a much better video quality than NTSC ! So... if you want to play N64 roms on an emulator, because the video quality upgrades granted by PAL and SECAM roms doesn't have any effect on an emulator, it's a much better idea to play NTSC N64 roms, offline or online with the NetPlay system ! Ooh and about the emulators available on Linux, it's a sure thing that some pretty nice emulator are working on Linux, sometimes much better that their Windows/OSX counterparts. But when it comes to emulator that support NetPlay, actually, i don't really know if Linux are supporting a lot these emulators or not. |

Hey, since you're from France, we won't have that bad of lag between each other if we do Netplay on Kaillera. I have Mupen64++ and have used that one more recently than Project64k after a desync happened one time. If we also get the MOD for SM64 multiplayer that would be fun, though I'd play MK64 if you want some time. Just got to recover my ROM set for GoodN64, because I lost it when I had to format my hard drive. Actually, i have MK64 and SM64 Multiplayer 1.3 ! I have a ton of other roms too so if you want to play other games, actually, we can ! |

Shall we add these new threads categories inside of the following forum categories ? - MKDS Hacking - MK7 Hacking - Other Hacking The purpose of these threads categories is to encourage the DSHack community to give requests about ideas of hacks they can't be able to create but someone else can be able to do it ! By the way, everyone can contribute to these requests ! And if someone is wondering what these thread categories can bring to this website, I'm going to give you some reasons of why it can be helpful for... well, DSHack in general ! - Make the non-hackers on this website less silent, giving them the freedom of saying in the appropriate threads their ideas ! - Gives brand new ideas for hackers ! - Connect the community ! - Ultimately, bring more content on DSHack ! So... "Pick It" or "Don't Pick" ? Edit 1 : Hmm... that's weird, of all the answers I added on the poll (Four availaible normally), only two of them seem to be visible (The two positive answers). I really have no way to know if someone can actually chose one of the four available answers. •___• Edit 2 : I tried to give choose one of the two voting options available (out of the four options who are supposed to be here) and... the two negative answers didn't showed up. Well, I guess my poll decided to remove the two last answers and that sucks. |
