Thread: Trouble creating custom tracks
Author | Posted on 2016/08/06 |
FFIVGUY | I am having a little trouble when it come to creating custom tracks. I know how to make a custom track, (creating the .obj, converting to nsbmd and nsbtx, creating the KCL, exporting the .carc and the Tex.carc, replacing the existing files with the new files and then replacing the existing carc. and Tex.carc with the new one. (Saving Included) but there are some issues. Whenever I create a custom track I make the KCL with the correct values, but I still end up falling though the track even if I raise the track up a bit. I am not sure what I might be doing wrong. Whenever I export the obj to nsbmd it appears that some of the face are missing or not completely there. So hopefully somebody can help me with this. |

FFIVGUY | I opened kartphysicalparam.bin kin a hex editor (Hex Edit.exe) to change the stats of the karts and I was having trouble finding the values to edit. I know what the values for the different stats are. The only thing that I could figure out how to edit is the top speed (sort of) (Only because those values are consistently in the 70's) . I am also having trouble figuring out where the values for the karts are. With kartoffsetdata.bin I just need some help finding the values for the tire alignment. |

What is a good size to make the model? |
Author | Posted on 2016/08/08 |
FFIVGUY | Can somebody help me with this please? |

FFIVGUY | I clicked on http://florian.nouwt.com/wiki/index.php/Kartphysicalparam.bin_ (File_Format) and it said "There is currently not text on this page." Other than that it helped a lot. Thanks! |

FFIVGUY | Szymbar, in the editor where it says wheel size I changed the value and when I replaced kartoffsetdata.bin only the size of the font wheels were changed. Is it supposed to be like that or is there a way to change the size of the back and the front wheels? |

FFIVGUY | The information for the character and tire placement is located in kartoffsetdata.bin. It can be a little difficult editing them all by hand in a hex editor. There is program that Szymbar coded to make it a little easier called TLTDIBH (Too Lazy to do it by Hand). It includes the character offsetts for their positioning in the karts. I forgot what the website is called. If you ask Szymbar he could tell you what the website is. |

I was searching in the Race.carc file of the kiosk demo and I came upon a file called main_meter.NSCR which is the file for the speedometer in the kiosk demo. I was wondering if there would be a way to restore it to the final version since the game would freeze if you just simply import it into Race.carc in the final version right from the demo just as it is. And if there is would there need to be some |

First of all, which kart are you trying to change the top speed of? The Values range from 00-FF. 78 is about 83 kl/h |

FFIVGUY | When I hack Mario kart ds, most of the time I replace tracks. The original missions do not work with custom tracks. So, I need some help on how to create custom missions. I know it is possible since I have seen it in Mario Kart 0 and Ermii Kart DS and maybe some other hacks. |

FFIVGUY | Whenever I try to extract to romfs it keeps saying the RomFs is corrupted and IVFC Segment is corrupted |

I am using the latest braindump release and homebrew launcher, but I don't know why it keeps corrupting. |

FFIVGUY | Redmat527, I saw the page, but as MKGirlism said, this is for Custom Battle Tracks which is not very much of a help for making custom missions |

I tried the older version but the romfs and the ivfc segment still got corrupted |
Author | Posted on 2016/09/11 |
FFIVGUY | I am using hans helper to extract the romfs |
Author | Posted on 2016/09/12 |
FFIVGUY | I will try that and see if it works. There's no CIA file so what should I do about the part where it says to extract the CIA file? |
Author | Posted on 2016/09/12 |
FFIVGUY | So, then how should I do this? |
Author | Posted on 2016/09/13 |
FFIVGUY | How am I supposed to extract the romfs now |

FFIVGUY | I was searching in Final Fantasy IV DS's data and most of the files are .lz files and I was wondering if there is a way to edit them. So, can someone tell me if there is a way? |

FFIVGUY | I think it might be something with the cxi that I dumped from braindump. I tried opening it in citra emulator and I was only getting the screen that said Mario Kart 7 that has the wheel spinning in the lower right hand side of the upper screen. I looked at the cmd line window I did not see any red text that usually displays when the rom is loading. Can someone help me figure out how to fix this? |

I had been using 3ds Fimmware version 11. It was be that it was the wrong version. Would it work if I downgraded to (9X-10.1? Would that fix the romfs from getting corrupt? |

FFIVGUY | Just ignore the Smileys I'm not sure where they are there. The Smileys were not in the cmd line window. |
Author | Posted on 2016/09/26 |
FFIVGUY | I'm just wondering because on the first page SGC states that for versions 9X-10.1 you need only the browser for the homebrew launcher and I didn't see anything about 11. |

FFIVGUY | When I make a custom track how should I scale the model and the textures so that they are not too big or too small? And how can a make the track have the texture m_ol6_road1 from GCN Luigi Ciruit without it going in the same direction when I want to put the texture on a curve? |

FFIVGUY | When will information be added to the Kart Resource (the new wiki)? |
Author | Posted on 2016/10/13 |
FFIVGUY | I know that there is the Changelog|New document button which we could click on to add information. But, I was also wondering because I know you mentioned on one of the threads that you might open the old wiki for a few people to port some stuff over but I haven't see anything there yet, and I am not sure how to port stuff like that |
Author | Posted on 2016/10/14 |
FFIVGUY | Is there a way to get those members back so they can port some stuff over? |

I texture hacked GCN Yoshi Circuit to make it look like winter, GCN Baby Park To have the road from GCN Luigi Circuit, GBA Sky Garden to have the night sky with lava below ( Molten Gardens is the name I came up with), and SNES Donut Plains 1 to have the road, grass and lava from Bowser Castle and the sky from Twilight House. I am sorry about all the different parts of the video. It was recorded in desmume. I could only record it in AVI format. I tried putting the entire AVI of a custom track that I recorded together and it didn't work so well. I am uploading the AVIs to youtube, which will take a while. In the meantime I have these pictures of the texture hacks ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I managed to get the romfs extracted from romfs.bin. When I opened KartParts_Param_Speed_Land.bin and the other files, I set it to 32 bytes in a row. I saw the default and levels 1 to 20 and the Drive_SpdMaxFwd_L and Drive_SpdMaxFwd_H, but I am confused about the stuff underneath it and the values for each of the levels 0C, to 12. I also need some help with editing the Drive_SpdMaxFwd_L and Drive_SpdMaxFwd_H part. ![]() |

FFIVGUY | I am also having some trouble with the point_body, point_tire and point_driver files. I am trying to figure out what the difference is between where it says the names of the parts and the drivers and the part where it says the stats and what stat each value represents. |

FFIVGUY | I just made another post here and it is not showing up in the shoutbox that I made reply. It is also saying that Atlas was the last one to make a reply in that thread. When I go to the forum it is saying that ShadowLink was the last one to make a post in the Mario Kart 7 hacking help although i just made the post now. EDIT: This also applies to the other threads as well. |

I just made a post here and it is not saying in the shoutbox that I made a reply in the help section. It is also saying that Atlas was the last person the reply to that post even after I made the post and it is also saying that ShadowLink made the post in the help section which was back on the 11th while I made a post a few minutes ago. Disregard this one since I did not realise that it was at the end of the page and that the other one got posted. I also thought the previous on failed. You may delete this one. |
