Thread: Help with Mario Kart 7 Character Texture Hacking
Author Posted on 2016/09/17
User 332 When I edit the textures with EFE, it gives me an error while saving. I know EFE doesn't support texture hacking at the moment, so I used Ohana3DS.

Everytime I load Ohana3DS it won't let me import the textures. Can anyone help me?

User 332 I want to text edit some of characters' names to correspond with the custom textures I made for them. How would I be able to do this? What file do I edit? I've seen it done before.

You need to use msbt editor (search in google). Open UI\\common-(langcode).szs and edit the 8KB file with it. (langcode = ue or ee for English)

Thanks! My textures look a lot more professional now!
Thread: How to change other music?

User 332 Sorry for so many posts, I just had a couplr of questions.

I know you can edit music in this game with sound/stream, but some of the songs aren't in that directory, such as the lose and win themes in a race. Is there any possible way to edit these, and where are they located?

Create a multichannel brstm:http://wiki.tockdom.com/wiki/Custom_Music#Multi_Channel_BRSTM_Making
Convert it to bcstm using soneek's converter. (Google it)

Thanks, I really appreciate it.

User 332 When I use soneek's converter it does nothing. It says it converted but the bcstm is nowhere to be found.

EDIT: Apparently soneek's converter doesnt support mono, and the tutorial told me my brstm had to be mono, so what do I do?

ANOTHER EDIT: YAY! I figured it out after hours of fiddling around. For those of you wondering, I made a multi channel wav in audacity, and used a smash bros 3ds brstrm kit to convert the wav to bcstm, and it works great in game! Thanks for the help everyone!

User 332 Where is the title screen located in the files?

A majority rests inside "UI/no_archive-jp/", and also a bit under "UI/debug/".
The Title Screen music is located under "Sound/stream/STRM_TITLE.bcstm".

hmmm, I dont see a debug folder.

That's japan-only. Just edit the files inside no-archive.

Oh, okay. And by the way. I tried to edit the bmps that show up when the game is loading, but it just ended up being corrupted and yellow in game. I'm not sure what I did wrong.

I had the same issue, back in 2014.
I think Gericom once said it was because of some compression method MK7 uses, or something like that...

Yep, that is exactly what is happening to me. I see that CTGP-7 has a custom one of those, though. So someone must of figured it out.

I've removed the video embed from your quote, could you remove it the next time?
Seeing a huge arse video embed twice is both bad for the eye, and for your Internet...

Sorry.

It doesn't use any kind of special compression, just edit it with photoshop.

I just edited it in photoshop, and it still is glitched in game.
