Since there is no Tutorial about this (or I just couldn't find one), I thought I'd make one myself and here is it: Mario Kart 7 Texture Hacking is easy and I am going to show you how you can create a texture hack in 6 simple steps. Step 1: You will need EveryFileExplorer, a special build of Ohana3DS, your favorite Drawing Software (I use PaintDotNet) and the .szs file of the track you want to modify, in my case it's Toad Circuit: ![]() Step 2: Open the .szs File in EveryFileExplorer and export the right .bcmdl file by right-clicking it and then clicking on export. ![]() Step 3: Open the filenamehere.bcmdl.bin File in Ohana3DS (just Drag and Drop it in the program) ![]() Now export the textures you want to edit, but you have to export ALL versions of each texture, for example: Don't just export tc_comb_03.png, you need to export tc_comb_03_2.png, tc_comb_03_3.png, tc_comb_03_4.png and tc_comb_03_5.png too, the reason for that is simple: Mipmaps. Step 4: Edit the texture in your favorite Drawing Software ![]() You have to edit ALL versions of each texture. Just edit the normal texture and then copy and resize it everytime. ![]() (I made a purple/night themed version of the texture) Step 5: Import the edited texture in Ohana3DS ![]() You also have to import ALL versions, obviously. Now just save the file. Step 6: Import the edited filenamehere.bcmdl.bin in EveryFileExplorer by right-clicking the right .bcmdl and clicking on replace and save the .szs :) ![]() This is how it looks ingame Step 7: ??? Step 8: Profit I hope, that this (badly done, sorry if there are mistakes) Tutorial could help you :) (btw. Character Texture Hacks are made about the same way) Have Fun making Texture Hacks. (2 pictures are rather big, but I didn't put them in a spoiler, tell me if I should) |

mence | Thanks for the help. I have a question though: Since you were making a night texture hack, is there a way to add a post effect to your character to make it a bit darker? Could you take the night effect from Shy Guy Bazaar or is it not possible? |

How do you add texture hacks to your 3DS with Luma If you have CTGP-7 put the custom files in CTGP-7/gamefs/Course otherwise use Luma3DS layeredfs: https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/wiki/Optional-features |
